in those days they did not have sealants and the kind of modern technology that we have, the kind of waterproofing, so this was quite a difficult challenge for them and they used putty and over the last 80 years the cracks have formed and this is the method of water just infiltrates the building and there are just holes in the roof all over between the skylight and here are some of the very nasty conditions that we found. we did extensive water testing. essentially the skylight system has an internal drainage which is just for condensation, but over time because of the putty falling apart and the flashings deteriorating, water just poured into the building and has ruined the interior and you can see the staining, this is from the inside. we did, as i mentioned, extensive water testing over the last few months and have come to understand what the issues are. and essentially due to the kinds of materials they used in 1931, the stresses on the roof could not be dealt with and that's why the roof is entirely falling apart. here again are some details of the overflow from the skylight tha
